Bijoy vs Unicode — why text turns into gibberish
Bijoy (SutonnyMJ and other "MJ" fonts) is an old way of typing Bangla: it stores English letters and symbols and relies on a special font to draw them as Bangla. Without that font, "আমার সোনার বাংলা" shows as Avgvi †mvbvi evsjv.
Unicode is the international standard. Unicode Bangla works on every phone, browser, Facebook, Google and email — no special font needed. Government offices, newspapers and most new documents now use Unicode.
When to convert which way
- Bijoy → Unicode: old Word files, composed newspaper text, letters typed in Bijoy that you want to post online, email or search.
- Unicode → Bijoy: Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW and some print workflows that still need SutonnyMJ.
How to use
- Choose the direction, then paste your text on the left.
- The converted text appears on the right instantly — click Copy.
- For Bijoy output, paste it where the SutonnyMJ font is selected, otherwise it shows as English letters.
Conversion runs entirely in your browser; your text is never uploaded.
