How age is calculated for job applications
Recruiters calculate age on a fixed date written in the circular — usually the circular date or a specific "age as on" date — not on the day you apply. The age is counted in completed years, months and days.
Example: born 15 March 1998, circular dated 4 October 2026 → 28 years 6 months 19 days.
Government job age limit in Bangladesh
- From 2024, the maximum age for entry into government service is 32 years for general candidates.
- Some posts, quotas and special recruitments have different limits — always read the circular.
- You are eligible up to and including the day you complete the maximum age; one day more and you are over.
Other uses
- School admission age checks (for example, minimum age on 1 January).
- Insurance, pension and retirement planning — government employees retire at 59.
- Counting days between any two dates.
