What a payslip should show
The Bangladesh Labour Act requires employers to pay wages on time and keep wage records. A payslip gives each employee a clear record of how their pay was worked out — and it is what banks and landlords ask for as proof of income.
- Employer and employee details — name, ID, designation, department and joining date
- Pay period and working days, days present and leave
- Earnings — basic salary, house rent, medical, conveyance, overtime, bonus
- Deductions — income tax (TDS), provident fund, advance or loan, absence
- Net pay in figures and in words, and how it was paid
Splitting the gross salary
Most private companies split the gross as basic 60%, house rent 30%, medical 5% and conveyance 5%. The split matters: overtime, provident fund, gratuity and festival bonus are usually worked out on the basic, and some allowances get tax-free treatment.
