Why give a rent receipt?
A rent receipt (বাড়ি ভাড়ার রসিদ) protects both sides. The tenant has proof of payment for disputes, office house-rent claims and tax returns; the landlord has a clear record of what was paid, what is due and for which month.
What a rent receipt should show
- House name or holding number and address.
- Landlord and tenant names, and the flat or shop number.
- The month (or months) the rent covers.
- Rent and each charge — gas, water, electricity, service charge, generator, lift.
- Previous due, total payable, amount received and the balance.
- Amount in words, payment method and both signatures.
Monthly routine
- Set the charges once — they are remembered.
- Each month press Next month: the period, receipt number and any unpaid balance move forward automatically.
- Print on A4, cut along the line, give one copy to the tenant and keep the other.
Tax note
Landlords must show rental income in their income tax return. Employees claiming house rent allowance exemption may need rent receipts as proof. Keep a year of receipts together.
